After months of work and collaboration with parents, students, community partners, and other school district stakeholders, the 2025-2030 SDMA Strategic Plan was unanimously approved by the school board on July 28, 2025.

The process used to create the strategic plan was very comprehensive. During the 2024-25 school year, district officials worked with consultants from Excel Leadership to:

• Conduct a strategic planning survey with over 900 survey respondents offering input.

• Hold over 18 focus groups to obtain face-to-face input from over 280 employees, students, parents, citizens & leaders, administrators and Board members. 

• Meet five times with a School/Community Steering Committee to synthesize findings from surveys and focus groups and identify key areas of focus for the strategic plan. 

• Meet two times members of the Administrative Team members to begin to draft the action plan focus & measures.

Once the strategic plan was approved by the Board, marketing materials and a condensed Plan on a Page were created to share the strategic plan with staff, students, parents,

community members, and all other school district stakeholders.

Each year the school board will approve a district work plan that lists the major goals and activities that will be completed to advance progress on the strategic plan. The Board reviews progress on the district work plan during each quarter of the school year, and an annual scorecard to track progress on the strategic plan will be posted below.
