Dear SDMA Families & Staff,
Happy Homecoming Menomonie! It has been a great week in the School District of the Menomonie Area (SDMA), with many wonderful activities for our students to enjoy celebrating school spirit. Thank you to all of the teachers, principals, and staff members who have worked so hard to provide these special experiences for our students and community!
There is an entire page (p. 8) dedicated to Homecoming in Principal Drake's Menomonie High School Fall Newsletter, and information about today's parade route, tomorrow's MHS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and other school news can be found on the SDMA website and the school district's Facebook page (Menomonie Area Schools).
Beyond Homecoming week, students and staff across the SDMA are off to a great start to the 2025-26 school year. A few other pieces of information that might be helpful for families include:
2025-26 District Calendar- please note that Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up at the beginning of October for grades K-8 and at the end of October for grades 9-12.
September Highlight on Youth Report- at each regular school board meeting (the second Monday of each month), the Board is presented with a report that shares some of the highlights in our schools from the past month.
ParentSquare Communication System- the SDMA is continuing work on implementing our new communication system throughout the school district and community. Family contacts for SDMA parent communications are managed by families based on what is entered in the Skyward Family Access System (contact the Administrative Service Center for assistance). Communication databases will be expanded in early October when community members, friends, and other caregivers will be able to sign up for emergency alerts and other school communications. Please be on the lookout for more information in October.
SDMA Strategic Plan- the beginning of the school year also coincides with initial work on the district's new 5-year strategic plan that was approved by the school board last summer. This year's annual work plan includes over 30 goals that district officials will be working toward under the pillars of Preparing our Students, Supporting Our Students, Engaging Our Staff, Enhancing Family & Community Partnerships, and Operating Efficiently & Effectively. The first quarterly update on the progress made toward these goals will be presented to the school board in October.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools in Menomonie! Our children are very fortunate to grow up in such a caring community.
Sincerely,
Joe Zydowsky
