Dear SDMA Families and Staff.
The registration window for the new SDMA K-8 Safer-at-Home learning option closed at noon on Friday. Approximately 7% (139) of all K-8 students currently enrolled in the in-person learning model are now registered for the new virtual option.
Today, teachers were officially assigned for supporting the K-8 Safer-at-Home option for each grade level, and teams met today to identify any classroom rosters that need to be re-cohorted. Efforts were made to minimize the number of students who will need to change schedules or classroom teachers, but with some teachers now moving to the virtual format, some classroom assignments will also need to change. Regardless, the district's commitment to maintaining the availability of six feet of spacing in all classrooms was prioritized.
Teachers and/or principals will be reaching out this week to all families with students placed in the new virtual cohorts, as well as any families with students who will have a change in classroom placement for continuing with in-person instruction. Information about learning options for second semester will be shared with families in December.
Thank you for all of your understanding and support during the first three months of the school year. Hopefully people will avoid Thanksgiving gatherings and conditions will be better than anticipated this winter. The choices we all make over the next week will have a significant impact on the options that our school district will be able to offer moving forward.
Happy Thanksgiving.
