SDMA COVID-19 Update 12-22-21
Posted on 12/22/2021

Dear SDMA Families and Staff,

Season's Greetings from the School District of the Menomonie Area!

While the SDMA wishes everyone a happy and healthy winter break, schools in Wisconsin have received notices this week warning of a possible January surge in COVID-19 cases due to the highly transmissible omicron variant.  Thankfully, the number of active cases in the SDMA this past week has been near the lowest levels observed during the entire 2021-2022 school year, with 20 known active COVID-19 cases in nearly 4,000 students and staff.

It is not yet known how severe the infections related to the omicron variant might be, but in order for the district to be well-prepared for when classes resume on January 3, families and staff are asked to please report any positive COVID-19 cases that might occur over break. School offices will be closed for much of the winter break, but families can report cases by emailing SDMA Health Assistant Sarah Hirsch at [email protected] or by calling (715) 279-7557. SDMA staff members can report cases by contacting the HR Department.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our schools.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
