SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE MENOMONIE AREA

POLICY 751.2, EXTRACURRICULAR TRANSPORTATION

Extracurricular activities (e.g. school athletic contests, games, after school practice, late activity, school outing or field trip) shall have access to district transportation services.  When accessed, transportation shall be provided by a school bus or motor coach, or a motor vehicle under the supervision of a competent adult. Transportation of students shall be in compliance with state law.

Such transportation programs shall be comparable in type, scope and support from the school district.  The school district will support transportation for extracurricular activities to the extent it is fiscally capable through the budget process.  Such support may be supplemented by outside funding sources.

Only the school principal or other person with comparable authority (e.g., activities director) authorizes student transportation use.

Any student involved in school-sponsored extracurricular trips shall be appropriately chaperoned and shall be subject to all school rules and regulations.

A student shall travel with the provided mode of transportation except when the parents/guardians accept responsibility for his/her transportation.
