Face Coverings in the SDMA

Face Coverings in the SDMA
Posted on 08/03/2020

Hello Parents.

The school district is receiving a number of inquiries related to the Governor's order requiring face coverings across the state. While there is some uncertainty as to how the order will be applied to some very specific school activities and whether or not the order might be overturned by the State Legislature, the SDMA is planning to comply with the order in our schools.

The school district realizes that some families are concerned about the need to make decisions about the virtual school option by August 12, and that the Governor's order might make a difference as to which option is preferred.

Please understand that it is still very important that families decide by August 12 to ensure that the district has adequate space and staffing for both the in-person and virtual school options. Registration in the virtual school still includes a semester-long commitment.

Families can change their minds before August 12 (even if a virtual school application has already been submitted), but families wanting the virtual school option for the start of the school year need to register by August 12. Families who submitted applications prior to August 12 but would now like to withdraw their requests may do so by emailing SDMA Director of Technology Katie Krueger ([email protected].us) up until the registration deadline of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12.

More information about the virtual school option is posted on the school district website.

Thank you.
