SDMA Update 5-15-2020
Posted on 05/15/2020

Hello SDMA Families and Staff.

Greetings from the School District of the Menomonie Area!  I hope that everyone is getting an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful spring weather.

Here are a few important items to be shared with SDMA families today:

  • Stay at Home Order- Despite the State Supreme Court vacating the governor's Stay at Home Order yesterday, schools in the SDMA will remain closed for the rest of the school year. More information about how this impacts Dunn County is well covered in the Dunn County News.
  • Summer School Registration- The SDMA is planning to offer a terrific virtual summer school program for students. At this point, two sessions are planned to be offered (June 15-26 and July 6-17). Especially with this year's school closure, summer programming is very important for helping children continue with their learning. Please be on the lookout for course descriptions and registration instructions next week.
  • Chromebook Drop Off/Personal Property Pick Up- Building principals are developing plans for cleaning out student locker spaces and providing a pick up schedule for returning personal property to families at the end of the school year. It is important that students return all school books and other materials at that time. With the district getting new chromebooks at the high school and middle school, all chromebooks for students in grades 6-12 MUST be returned before the end of the school year. Elementary students enrolling in summer school will be allowed to keep their devices over the summer, while high school and middle school students enrolling in summer courses will be provided with a different chromebook.
  • Remote Learning Survey- While we are very pleased with the extraordinary efforts made by students and staff during this school closure, it is important that the school district consider parent feedback when determining the overall success of our program. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts by completing this parent survey. If possible, we would appreciate it if parents would please fill out a separate survey for each child in the school district.

Have a wonderful weekend!
